!±8± Review of Panerai Luminor Chrono Daylight 44m in Titanium

The Luminor was created by Panerai more than 60 years ago and has been highly respected by watch industry. This year, a fresh Luminor model comes out with some noticeable changes.

As the latest Luminor successor, Luminor Chrono Daylight 44 mm obviously carries on the original case shape and the trademarked lever bridge. However, it has also been endowed with many new features that make it much more modern.

Firstly, the new watch adopts grade-five titanium on the case, bracelet and bezel. This material, solid, light and durable, defeats traditional steel with several advantages: it is hypo-allergenic, good news for those who with sensitive skin; it is both temperature-resistant and anti-corrosion, an important quality for a watch that has close relationship with sea water. However, on the other hand, titanium requires a much more complex surface finishing process.

Secondly, powered by the Panerai OP XII Calibre, the new Luminor model provides chronograph functions(operated through two cylindrical pusher buttons ) as well as date display rather than only hours and minutes. This movement has a power reserve of 46 hour and beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibration per hour. It features Panerai personalized oscillating weight and Cotes-de-Geneve decorated bridges. Its accuracy is unquestionable with the approval of the C.O.S.C-chronometer certificate.

Thirdly, the watch goes on an innovative titanium bracelet that draws great attention. It features the polished finishing between the links, which echoes with the same play of contrast used on the case band and the bezel. The links are asymmetrical and are horizontally and vertically rounded. In this way, the bracelet seamlessly flows into the case and make the watch an aesthetically integrated one. What is more, the bracelet brings exceptional comfort of wearing on the wrist.

Still noticeable is that the blue dial. The blue hue is not very popular in Panerai watches, but it looks great on this new Panerai Luminor. The dial has a sapphire crystal cover that is 2.5mm thick and has anti-reflective coating. Hands, hour markers and smaller hands in subdials are all covered with luminous material to ensure ideal reading underwater and places of poor lights.

As stated before, the bezel plays the contrast of brushed and polished. It features brushed finished on the surface and polished edge. Engraved with tachymeter scale, it can be used to calculate the speed.

The Luminor Chrono Daylight 44mm in titanium (PAM00327) offers options for strap. If you wish, you can replace the titanium bracelet with an alligator strap.
